About Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand — the Devbhumi of the Garhwal and Kumaon Himalayas — is one of India’s most spiritually loaded states. The four sacred Char Dhams (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath), the yoga capital of the world (Rishikesh), India’s oldest national park (Jim Corbett), the lake district (Nainital) and the world-famous Valley of Flowers — all crammed into one mountain state.
It’s also one of India’s biggest adventure destinations: white-water rafting, bungee jumping, paragliding, skiing at Auli, trekking to Roopkund and the Pindari Glacier — Uttarakhand has it all.
Best Time to Visit
- March – June — best for hill stations, Jim Corbett, Rishikesh adventure sports.
- April – November — Char Dham yatra season (opens on Akshaya Tritiya, closes on Diwali).
- July – August — Valley of Flowers in full bloom (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).
- December – February — snow at Auli for skiing, frozen Nainital for solitude.

The Ganga turns aqua-green here. Saints, hippies, yogis and adventure travellers all converge on this riverside town that the Beatles once called home.
